W. Edward Metz, 69, of Forrest, IL, died at 9:05 PM Thursday at Fairbury Hospital, Fairbury, where he had been a patient for one day. Mr. Metz collapsed while walking on a street here at 11 AM Wednesday and had been in critical condition with a heart ailment at the hospital. He was brought to the Culkin Funeral Home. Arrangements are incomplete.
Mr. Metz was born on January 27, 1885, at Forrest, a son of Samuel and Nettie Virkler Metz. He married Ella Bollier May 25, 1910, at Forrest. She died in 1949. Surviving are one son, Vern, Forrest; one daughter, Mrs. Verl Thrush, Forrest; three grandchildren, four brothers, Clyde, Bainbridge, IN; Carl, Fairbury; Joe, Forrest; Walter, Dearborn, MI; three sisters, Mrs. Matilda Hirstein, Bremen, IN; Mrs. Della Meiss, Fairbury; Mrs. Ann Harms, Forrest.
